How to be Rehired by LGU

This list is designed to help you understand the entire process involved when being REHIRED as a lifeguard. These steps do not necessarily need to be completed in this order, just make sure you take care of everything in a timely manner. Remember, the first to complete all the steps are the first to be rehired.

To be rehired by LGU:

  1. Send in Your Returning Staff Application
  2. Set up an Interview (only for those interested in management)
  3. Take a Challenge
  4. Sign Up Online -All staff must resubmit!
  5. Go to Mandatory Staff Orientation
  6. Get a Suit

Your Returning Staff Application

This one page application is much simpler than the full application. You also need to resubmit an authorization for the release of information form. You will not need to send in any tax forms unless you feel the need to change something from last year. Make sure you get this in as soon as possible so we know you are returning.

You can print all of these documents HERE. It is better for us if you can send in all your paperwork together. Once completed you may send it to our office at: 4709 LaGuardia Dr Suite 180, St. Louis, MO 63134

Set up an Interview

(only if interested in being a head guard, assistant manager, manager, or area supervisor.)

In December we begin interviewing for leadership positions at LGU. Starting November 9th, you can call the office to setup an interview.  Even if you were in a leadership position in the past you must sign up for an interview. If you think you would be interested in a leadership role click HERE.

Take a Challenge

Due to our partnership with the Red Cross, Lifeguards Unlimited requires our guards to recertify EVERY year. This may seem unnecessary, however we believe it is vital in preparing you for the summer. Since you are requied to recertify your CPR every year anyway, it is a great time to recertify everything, especially at such a low cost.

A challenge usually runs around 8 hours. It is comprised of a pre-test, skills tests on land and in the water, and written tests exactly like those from your full class.

Special Note: Our challenge does NOT cover waterpark elements. Therefore, if you wish to work at a waterpark you MUST attend the FREE four hour waterpark challenge in addition to a full challenge. These will be offered the first week of the season and dates will be posted as soon as possible.

You may sign up for any challenge you want, however please note:

  1. You are not officially registered until we RECEIVE the payment for the challenge. If it is mailed you will not be registered until it reaches our office.
  2. We must have six people sign up to run a challenge.
  3. If you register for a challenge and find you need to switch the date, you may do so ONCE and there is a mandatory fee.

You may sign up for challenges HERE at anytime. Please be sure to look at the cancellation policy before registering.

Register Online

Even if you have been working for Lifeguards Unlimited for several years you must re-sigh up for online access. Click HERE and fill out the online form. Please also join our group on facebook: Lifeguards Unlimited.

Mandatory staff orientation

In May we will have three opportunities for you to attend the staff orientation. You need to sign up to attend ONE orientation. At this orientation you will learn more about our company and how to test chemicals, have the opportunity to buy a staff shirt or swimsuit, and finish any missing paperwork. The schedule of orientations is posted HERE.

How to buy a suit

Presentation is an important part of being a lifeguard. We require all of our guards to purchase a Lifeguards Unlimited swimsuit. This can be bought online via the lifeguard store. You can find explicit instructions on how to purchase your suit Here.
