Becoming a Lifeguard Instructor

To become a Lifeguard Instructor you must:

  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Possess a current ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED certificate
  • Successfully complete a challenge the first evening

Lifeguards Unlimited will be hosting an LGI class beginning February 18th. This class costs $350. If you choose to take this class with the Red Cross it costs $500. 

  • Location: St. Louis Community College @ Meramec and The Lifeguards Unlimited Office
  • Dates: February 18,19, 25, & 26

The American Red Cross also holds LGI classes every winter and spring. They are held once a month on one Friday evening and two consecutive weekends. To register for a class you need to:

  • Visit the St. Louis American Red Cross website (here)
  • Enter your zipcode
  • Select the course category "Instructor Training"
  • Enter mile raidus, course format, and date range
  • Select the Lifeguard Instructor course available and click Register

 

*You will be taking a class with the Red Cross. You MUST know your skills.

**Become an LGI earlier rather than later. Classes are smaller and you can start teaching sooner.
